Sometimes the best things are old things!This weekend we installed these beautiful drapes and cornices in a client's home. He's an antique collector and in an estate sale found these beautiful drapes. The material was heavenly and the construction was immaculate. The drapes were pleated, lined and inter-lined. The cornices were padded and trimmed to perfection.
As providence would have it, the size fit his windows almost perfectly. I was employed to do a little re-fashioning to make the match complete.
If you can't afford new, buy used, and in many cases, if the new isn't the quality you want, look to the old. Many times an antique will have much better quality than something new from a big box store.An interior that is made up of a collection of treasured objects makes a warm and rich environment that you can't find on a showroom floor. You may not love a heavy, linen, floral like these, but combining old treasures with new finds you can create a home that is unique and beautiful.
